The iPad Mini isn't selling as well as the full-sized iPad, but it might not matter to Apple. Rumors have already surfaced that Apple is currently preparing to release an iPad Mini with Retina Display technology. No time table has been revealed about the iPad Mini Retina Display release date, but many expect that it might not be far into the new year.

"Apple's next-generation iPad mini's enhancements will center around the device's display resolution," reports 9to5Mac, a blog dedicated to Apple rumors. The blog cites Digitimes, the Taiwanese blog famous for leaked information. Digitimes did not specify whether the screen would be considered a Retina Display, but all signs indicate that the next screen will, indeed, use Retina Display technology.

DigiTimes has a mixed track record in terms of gathering legitimately leaked information, but when it comes to Apple technology, the Taiwanese blog has actually been pretty accurate. The blog was one of the first to report that Apple would be launching a new MacBook Pro in 2012, and that's exactly what happened. The blog has also been correct about the third-generation iPad receiving a Retina Display. With Digitimes having such a strong track record with Retinda Display information, we're going to go ahead and say that they're probably right about this one.

The current iPad Mini has not been selling as well as expected this holiday season.? ?Analysts have been shocked to find that iPad Mini orders have not cannablized the iPad 9.7" orders. "According to a survey of more than 1,000 U.S. consumers, more than 47 percent of iPad Mini buyers are new to the Apple brand. Analyst Katy Huberty said that concerns over this trend are 'overblown,'" reports Padgadget.

Although the iPad Mini is not selling as well as the full-sized iPad, there's still time for the miniature tablet bounce back. With just over two weeks before the holiday season ends, it wouldn't be suprising to see a sudden spike in iPad Mini sales. If the iPad Mini Retina Display is being released as soon as we suspect, it might not matter that the current iPad Mini is not in high demand.
