HOUSTON?A Pasadena woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly tried to smuggle a 4-month-old baby boy into the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested caught the woman at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.

Investigators said the woman, whose name has not been released, walked up from Mexico on the bridge?s pedestrian lanes.

The woman claimed the infant was her son and showed an American birth certificate for the boy, investigators said.

CBP officers learned that was not true. They discovered the boy was a Mexican national without permission to enter the United States. The baby was then returned to his mother in Mexico.

The woman now faces human smuggling charges.
