ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. -- Police arrested a homeless man who admitted to stealing two golf carts, saying he took the last one because it was illegal for the owner to leave the keys in the ignition.
St. Lucie County sheriff's deputies arrested Tyler Tolle, 25, after the owner of the second cart caught him riding it Tuesday and stopped him.
Tolle told deputies he stole the first cart Monday afternoon from Ocean Resorts on Loggerhead Park and drove it until it ran out of power. He went to a nearby home and stole another one Tuesday, claiming he was going to return it when he got back from the store, according to the sheriff's office.
Tolle was jailed on two charges of grand theft.
